trelise

I am half way through my wardrobe and I feel completely lost. Take this Trelise Cooper jacket for example, just adorable in it's heaviness, over the top design and well covered by over sized multi-coloured sequins. But how many sparkly garments can I stack in my wardrobe? I remember the first time I saw it, in an old theater pop up store for my favorite New Zealand designer, Trelise Cooper and that jacket, one of the sellers were randomly and carelessly pairing it with a worn out t-shirt and a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans-it was perfect 'weak as I am for her designs' I just had to have it. It has currently moved to my downstairs wardrobe were clothes tend to be worn only on the very special of occasions...

Le loup and orange notes...

T-shirt dress-Slub Crew: Wilt
Knitted leggings: Andrea Moore
Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens

It was such a beautiful day yesterday, cold with clear crispy air, starching blue skies and with a blooming orange hedge I just had to take some photos wearing my orange/copper-bird and favorite shirt of mine. I am as we speak busy clearing out my wardrobe and have made two gigantic piles so far, one : Toss and the other: Keep, well then it's those (I haven't worn you in a year but I like looking at you garments), admittedly they are still on their hangers. It's a bit tricky not knowing if I'd ever go back to my former self pre-pregnancy and hope that clothes marked S and S/M will be worn again. Can't help clinging on to my Swedish Hasbeens in a sort of tanned leather, they are so 'uncomfortable' but goes so well with a lot of my folklore pieces. Hm..another week of tripping over and then admire them in the hallway then...

It's all Sandra's fault...
Oaknyc.com

The stylish and very addictive 5inchandup.blogspot.com blogger was wearing a pair of these brouge's in a post and in the color black. It was displayed in the most casual 'and here are my shoes' kind of way that I had to own a pair for myself. I'm like that, I find something to obsess about and then I'm unhappy until I make them mine, ah..my precious...

"cause and effect"
I didn't really get anything for my birthday so I've decided to buy something for myself. I was contemplating a gemstone ring or necklace but are opting out of jewelry this time, a pair of Acne is just what the doctor ordered. So, I caved in and just had to have them while using my '30+ something birthday' as the main excuse.

By the way, thank you Oak for stocking the very last pair and in my size!..and I'm now anticipating their arrival (hope to god they fit). The pair is in a sort of brownish leather just as the shoe pictured below and the picture above is of a pair that I've recently found on ebay, it's just getting the size right when bargaining there and it hardly works for me, a size 40 dilemma. For now:  it's about 5 days delivery, probably sometime next week, and I'll post an update about that...

wildwood...

This photo that I randomly and luckily snapped at a Christmas party (the kids were blowing soap bubbles, I know) captures the essence of what I want my wardrobe to look like. Slightly ghostly, current with notes of electric blue, white and soft mossy greens.
I really am a wildwood green (the style/color of this silk sort of bed jacket) and admittedly; embroidery, vintage prints, frills, lace and studded while 'slightly used' boots makes my heart skip. I probably need more clean cut single colored garments and basics but I can't help buying garments in prints. Here is one of my favorite buys (got it in 2010 but it's still rocki'n my wardrobe), it's the Opy Jacket from Winter Kate...one of those pieces that weigh nothing so it's easy to pack, throw on over a dress or a slouchy T-shirt paired with shorts, it's already been well used here in New Zealand and on my very romantic honeymoon in Paris...

saying goodbye to my Swede's...

Planet Blue Aztec jacket
The Warehouse shirt
Alexander Wang shorts
Swedish Hasbeens shoes

I wasn't super excited when the weather turned from scorching sunny days (wearing nothing but havianas and over sized T-shirts) to wet, windy and overall so miserable that I'm forcing myself to step outside.
I snapped a few photos wearing a Planet Blue Aztec printed furry and very warm jacket paired with my way to small and soon to be on sale; Swedish Hasbeens. I fell in love with the tanned leather and the prospects of being able to wear them to basically any event and with any garment, from washed out boyfriend jeans to a sequin dress. "In any weather" is probably too much to ask of them tough, trying the comfort level on a day like this resulted in; no way..that and the fact that they have never fitted me properly even tough the seller convinced me that leather stretches. Well how many hours can you bare limping around while working in one of the high end shops in Wellington. So, they you have it, are the clogs are being rejected and replaced, but it's an reluctant sale as they are way to pretty to be without and I'm going to miss watching them neatly placed next to all the slightly torn and stretched shoes that I'm actually using...

it's Funktional...

It has been raining non stop since I've woke up, everything from a light drizzle to different kinds of 'left pouring' and heavy hammering on our semi tin covered roof. I have made the most of it posing around in my cozy new cable knitted sweater from Funktional paired with my 'a few months old' pair of Alexander Wang shorts (made in a sort of casual 'trainers' look). The perfect for old movies like; Gone with the Wind and a good closet clear out! xx Alice

Alexander Wang's Leopard Jane

I have been away for such a long time, sorry guys! Having a little baby girl has demanded all my attention (it's such a wonderful life changer) and moving from Wellington to a quaint little beach town, that and painting our new house has taken more months and boxes then first anticipated. I'm officially back in full force..first off, my Alexander Wang Jane Leopard Bag, a goat skin 'decorated with heavy metal zips' bag in a soft chunky style, perfect to throw over ones shoulder when dressed down. I am on the other hand struggling to motivate the purchase (as I'm most days carrying warm milk and diapers in it). It deserves a better faith then that.

So nice to be back, missed you all so much! xx Alice
